Social Media stats and demographics in the Czech Republic

The number of social media users in the Czech Republic is still rapidly changing. What are the current statistics and demographic across all social media channels?


Facebook Network

Let's start with Facebook Network which controls several platforms. Facebook as itself has around 5 200 000 unique users (UU) followed by the Facebook Messenger, which is currently used by 3 700 000 people. Facebook Audience Network (network of publisher-owned apps and sites where you can show your ads) offers possibility to reach up to 3 200 000 UU. All together, Facebook, Messenger and Audience Network has 5 400 000 active users with following demographic structure:

Sex:

Men: 2 600 000

Women: 2 800 000


Age structure:

13-25 years: 1 500 000 users

26-35 years: 1 500 000 users

36-45 years: 1 200 000 users

46+ years:1 200 000 users

Region:

Prague: 1 200 000

Brno: 320 000

Ostrava: 210 000

Plzeň: 140 000

Hradec Králové + Pardubice: 140 000


Instagram

The most progressive social media platform Instagram, also owned by Facebook, has 2.2 million users within the country with following demographics:

Sex:

Men: 1 000 000

Women: 1 200 000


Age structure:

13-25 years: 1 100 000 users

26-35 years: 550 000 users

36-45 years: 330 000 users

46+ years: 220 000 users

Region:

Prague: 560 000

Brno: 140 000

Ostrava: 78 000

If you combine all previously mentioned options, you can reach up to 5 700 000 unique users with your ads run in the Facebook Network and Instagram (all ads are run from one place - Business Manager).


YouTube

The second largest platform in the Czech Republic is YouTube with 5 600 000 unique active users per month. YouTube currently launched the new ad formats such as vertical bumper ads, following the latest trends of vertical mobile videos with ratio of 1:1 up to 9:16, focusing on the young target group.


LinkedIn

The fourth place goes to LinkedIn with 1 600 000 professionals and career oriented users. You can target 520 00 women and 560 000 men with your LinkedIn Ads.

Age structure:

18-24 years: 89 000+ users

25-34 years: 220 000+ users

35-54 years: 200 000+ users

55+ years: 31 000+ users


"The others"

Twitter still stagnates about 600 000 users, mostly following the Czech media, politicians, celebrities, IT geeks and servers and journalists. Twitter is also used as customer care platform by companies such as airlines, mobile operators and banks in the Czech Republic.

The "slowly dying" Snapchat has officially 460 000 users in the Czech Republic, but only very small part of them is using the app daily and actively.

The dating app Tinder is used by 450 000 Czechs. This app is very popular among the target group of 18+ and offers quite effective possibility of advertising. The prediction says that users count will continuously grow in the future.

The last network is Pinterest with 270k of "inspiration-finding" users.
